YOUR CHILD’S FIRST DENTAL VISIT

First dental visits are mostly educational. Dr. Nini, Dr. John, Dr. Da Fonseca and the Teddy Bear Children's Dentistry team recommend that children visit our West Hills pediatric dental office by age one as well.

This “well baby check” for the teeth can establish a dental home and helps ensure that you learn the tools you’ll need to help your children remain cavity-free.

As your child gets older, we shift focus to preventive care. We offer all preventive services, such as nutritional counseling, sealants, fluoride, exams and cleanings, and digital X-rays. If necessary, we also provide complete dental services such as tooth-colored fillings and crowns, minimally invasive treatment, baby root canals, and more.

Our main goal at Teddy Bear Children’s Dentistry is to help kids discover that going to the dentist is good for their overall health and a fun and enjoyable experience for them to look forward to at every visit.

HOME CARE

Before the teeth erupt, clean your baby’s mouth and gums with a soft cloth or infant toothbrush at bath time. This helps ready the baby for the teeth cleaning to come.

When the teeth erupt, use a tiny smear of fluoride toothpaste to brush baby teeth twice daily with a soft, age-appropriate-sized toothbrush.

Brushing your child’s teeth twice daily (morning and before bed) for just two minutes helps remove plaque, preventing tooth decay, gum disease, and other dental problems later in life.
